Women Leaders Programme Achievements
|
Since it was launched in 2001, the Women Leaders Programme has:
- held more than 30 sessions in Forum events around the world on issues centred the condition of women, the role of women in society, and women in leadership
- increased the participation of women leaders from 8% to 15% at Annual Meetings (2002-2006)
- increased the number of women panellists from 9% to 13% at Annual Meetings (2002-2006)
- launched in 2005 the World Economic Forum’s first Global Gender Gap Report
- on behalf of participants of the World Economic Forum in Jordan 2004, drafted recommendations (PDF; 2pgs; 64k) to the League of Arab States on improving women's conditions in the Arab world
- on behalf of participants of the Africa Economic Summit 2004, issued a statement in South Africa asking that women be included in the Implementation Committee and the proceedings of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD)
- commissioned Gallup International to poll women around the world on their perspectives on the state of the world and prospects for the future. Read the results
