Global Education Initiative
The Global Education Initiative (GEI)builds on a proven model of public-private partnership (PPP) that combines the strengths of government, the private sector and civil society stakeholders to advance education. Together, business leaders of the Information Technology and Telecommunications Community of the World Economic Forum launched the initiative to create new sustainable models for education reform in the developing world through PPPs. The Jordan Education Initiative was the first PPP launched. Similar initiatives have been launched in Egypt as well as in the Indian State of Rajasthan. Additional countries have also requested inclusion.
GEI Action
- Primary research and advocacy on the opportunities and value proposition for the global business community to work with government and the development community to improve education
- Action oriented country and regional initiatives that engage all stakeholders in PPPs to improve education
- Methodologies, best practices and actionable frameworks for business, government, and the development community to initiate and create sustainable PPPs.
The World Economic Forum is pleased to recognize Cisco, Microsoft and Intel as strategic partners of the GEI.
