Julia Abad heads the Presidential Management Staff at the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines. The youngest member of President Benigno S. Aquino III’s cabinet, she manages a team that provides policy advise, research, analysis and technical support to the Office of the President. She also served as chief of staff to then Senator Aquino at the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines. Prior to her stint in government, Julia worked as an educator, lecturing in political science and helping to develop a citizenship curriculum for young children. She has also worked in the non-profit sector as a researcher and communications specialist. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, which she attended as a Fulbright scholar. Recognized by devex.com as one of Manila’s 40 under 40 International Development Leaders in 2012, Julia is passionate about getting young people involved in public service. She likes to spend t ime in the sun, travel and explore new places.
